So here’s how it happened…

I’ve had good days and bad days, but with the past week of endless college submissions and projects, I can’t differentiate between the two.

But this tiny mail dropped in my inbox somewhere in the past week. While I rarely open blog feed mails, this was particularly curious.

I opened it up quick and read its contents — and then read it again.

The mail was from FeedSpot and it was a congratulation mail to making it on the top 60 Asia Travel blogs. Opening up their article on the blog listing and there I stood!

I wasn’t sure if it is indeed an achievement to make it among the top in their blog directory, or if I was just making a big deal of it. Either way, it made my day.

While I’ve written quite a bit on Medium, I’ve worked for days on some articles on my personal travel blog.

Apart from getting the best pictures, eye-opener headlines, and writing blog style content, the performance and site design are all part of the whole blogging for me. And I finally felt the work paid off.

Of course, the listing doesn’t in any way pay me, but it’s a sweet distinct emotion on its own.

What keeps us going

To any self-made person and particularly bloggers, I think this is what keeps us going — support.

Sure, the money that runs behind does push us further, and so does our own enthusiasm for what we love doing.

But that tiny support, be it a mail, an Instagram message, or even your dog (I hope you’ve got one) telling you to keep going — makes it a big difference.

Of course, random messages from strangers isn’t something we can control. When we do get it, we accept and appreciate it, ultimately being vulnerable to kindness.

But what we can control is who do we choose to be with. Get the right support around you. When you get a smile across your face for having the people you chose to be with, that’s when you’ve got it all :)

Oh, and here’s my blog that I talked of so much — Madman’s Journey.
